Welcome to Clareo Orthodontics and Periodontics

Services available at the clinic

Our specialists, Dr Geneviève Gagnon, Dr Karim Jarjoura & Dr Nicolas Robitaille, will be happy to advise you on the right course of action for any orthodontic and periodontal treatment. Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any questions!

Our orthodontists provide a number of treatments for children. The most common problems encountered include: upper jaw too narrow, upper jaw too far back in relation to the lower jaw, anterior crossbite, upper teeth or jaw too far forward in relation to the lower teeth or jaw, bad habits, early loss of baby teeth, poor eruption pattern of adult teeth, and impacted teeth.

For teenagers, orthodontics is not limited to aligning teeth and correcting smiles. Orthodontic treatment may also be needed to address problems affecting chewing, pronunciation of certain sounds and gum health. Here are some examples of common situations that may benefit from orthodontic correction: minor/moderate crowding, severe crowding, gaps between teeth, anterior gap, closed bite, upper teeth too far forward in relation to lower teeth (non-extraction treatment, distalization, extraction treatment), upper teeth too far back in relation to lower teeth, jaw too narrow, impacted tooth, missing lateral incisor (closing of tooth, closing of gap), narrow lateral incisor.

For adults as well, several treatments can be proposed to discreetly align teeth. Our possible treatments are: multidisciplinary & limited treatment, treatment in anticipation of tooth replacement, jaw relationship problem and jaw pain.

InvisalignTM is a unique procedure that allows the correction of the position of teeth with the help of transparent plastic aligners. The aligners are manufactured by computer from highly accurate impressions of your teeth. The movement of the teeth is incorporated into the aligners, so that each aligner is slightly different from the last. Each aligner is worn for a period of 2 weeks, 20–22 hours per day. The final position of the teeth is based on a digital simulation of the treatment established by Drs. Jarjoura and Gagnon. Invisalign®TMprovides an alternative to braces that is aesthetically pleasing, comfortable and practical.

Incognito™ is a revolutionary system that differs from traditional orthodontic techniques. Braces are bonded to the inside of the teeth (lingual), allowing for discreet correction of tooth position. With Incognito™ technology, braces are 100% custom-made for your teeth. The process allows for thinner, more comfortable braces to be manufactured and provides the orthodontist with maximum control and precision in all stages of treatment.

We offer several treatments to treat gum disease, such as: gingivitis, periodontitis (non-surgical and surgical therapy), gum grafting, tooth lengthening, functional tooth lengthening, smile correction, exposure of impacted teeth, and frenectomy.

Gingivitis is characterized by redness and swelling of the gums. This condition is the body’s response to the presence of an irritant, usually the accumulation of plaque (bacteria) and tartar on the surface of the tooth. Gingivitis is a reversible condition and will disappear without causing permanent damage after a dentist removes the plaque and tartar. Certain conditions can affect the severity of gingivitis such as hormonal fluctuations during adolescence and pregnancy as well as certain medications.

Periodontitis is an infection of the gums that results in the loss of bone and support around the teeth. Like gingivitis, periodontitis is caused by the accumulation of bacteria on the tooth, under the gum line. In addition to redness and bleeding, periodontitis is characterized by the formation of a space between the gum and the tooth called a periodontal pocket. The pocket is the result of bone loss around the tooth. These spaces are difficult to clean and, therefore, favour the progression of the disease. Without treatment, periodontitis can cause the loss of the affected tooth.

The most common form of the disease. It is characterized more by the severity of the bone loss: early, moderate and severe. More than 40% of the population is affected by the moderate form while approximately 15% is affected by the severe form. Displacement and mobility of a tooth are frequent signs of severe periodontitis.

Rare form of the disease that mainly affects teens and young adults. The progression of bone loss is quick and may involve more than one tooth.

Certain diseases affecting the body’s defence system (immune system) such as diabetes and certain syndromes increase the risk of infection and the risk of developing periodontitis.

Today, the replacement of a single tooth is the most common use of dental implants. Implants have been used for this purpose for decades, and numerous studies have demonstrated their excellent long-term success rate. Implants are the most conservative and natural tooth replacement option.
