Dentofacial orthopedics

While orthodontics deals primarily with tooth movement, dentofacial orthopedics involves guiding the growth and development that occurs primarily during childhood and adolescence. In both cases, intraoral appliances are frequently used. Sometimes dentofacial orthopedics will precede orthodontic treatment, but in most cases, the two techniques are used simultaneously.
