Treatment for children
Dr. Guay, your orthodontist of choice for your children!
Did you know that the best age for a first visit to the orthodontist is 7 years old?
There are good reasons why your child should have an orthodontic evaluation at a young age. In fact, the AAO (American Association of Orthodontists) recommends an evaluation with an orthodontist as early as age 7.
Dr. Guay will be able to spot subtle problems with jaw growth, correct harmful oral habits, and guide permanent teeth into a more favorable position. Treatment at a young age can prevent more serious problems from developing and can make later treatment shorter and less complicated. In some cases, we can achieve results that may not be possible once jaw growth is complete.
There are a multitude of treatments, including palatal expanders, myofunctional appliances, and many others, including the Invisalign technique. If used by an orthodontist specialist such as Dr. Guay, we can see very interesting results. These removable shells encourage cooperation from young patients; they are discreet, space-saving, allow good speech, and cleaning and brushing are easy. Subsequently, if a second phase treatment is necessary, it will be easier because a large part of the work will have been done with this comfortable and easy-to-wear device.
Since a majority of our orthodontic treatments in Hull are done with young patients, we are on the lookout for new technologies that can improve the effectiveness and comfort of treatments.
No referral from your dentist is necessary.
An assessment with an orthodontist specialist will inform you of the most appropriate treatment at the most appropriate time. Orthodontics for children: Dr. Guay is your orthodontist and Invisalign specialist in Hull!
Treatment for teenagers
Often faster and easier treatment.
Adolescence is the ideal time to begin orthodontic treatment.
This is a period when permanent teeth are in place, and there is significant growth potential that allows for correcting the alignment of the jaws and teeth. By undertaking orthodontic treatment during adolescence rather than adulthood, you can often benefit from faster and simpler treatment.
There are also several treatment options. Conventional braces are very popular with teenagers, but there are also more discreet options, such as Invisalign treatment. These are virtually invisible, removable aligners! Dr. André Guay, a certified orthodontist in Hull who has achieved Platinum Plus status, will be able to recommend the best option.
Orthodontic treatment is ideal for correcting misplaced or impacted teeth, jaws positioned too far forward or back, upper and lower teeth that have no contact with each other, overlapping, clenching, or grinding of teeth. By properly aligning teeth, lips, and jaws, orthodontics can help improve self-esteem and facial aesthetics. Properly aligned teeth are easier to clean and maintain, which can help prevent the development of tooth decay, gum disease, and bone destruction around the teeth.
No referral from your dentist is necessary.
Undertaking orthodontic treatment as a teenager will go far beyond a beautiful smile and straight teeth! Make an appointment at Clareo Orthodontics Hull today!
Treatment for adults
It's never too late!
Most patients will tell you that the investment in orthodontic treatment was one of the best of their lives.
With Invisalign or conventional orthodontic appliances, the possibilities are numerous!
You are never too old to have a radiant smile! An orthodontic treatment for adults done by Dr. Guay is possible, knowing that its benefits will last a lifetime. The benefits in terms of self-esteem, dental function, and professional and social life are invaluable. More than a third of our patients are adults, so Dr. André Guay is aware of the orthodontic concerns of adults in Outaouais.
Many adult patients are concerned about the appearance of an orthodontic appliance. Know that there are several possibilities, including the Invisalign treatment, a very interesting option for the majority of our adult patients. Dr. Guay is the orthodontist in Hull who offers this service the most. He has followed the most advanced training, including the Master's and the Invisalign Fellowship. He has achieved Platinum Plus status. Dr. Guay will propose a customized orthodontic treatment plan according to your needs.
Orthodontic treatment is ideal for correcting misplaced or impacted teeth, jaws positioned too far forward or back, upper and lower teeth that do not have any contact with each other, and overlapping, clenching, or grinding of teeth.
Dr. Guay will take into consideration factors such as restored or missing teeth, dental implants, crowns, bridges, partials, worn teeth, and bone and gum loss. It is important to know that a bad occlusion can contribute to the development of gum and bone diseases surrounding your teeth and can accelerate tooth wear and chewing difficulties. It can also cause premature tooth loss, headaches, and pain in the jaw joints.
Several options are available for orthodontic care, and Dr. André Guay will recommend the ideal option for you.
Please note that it is not necessary to be referred by a dentist to make an appointment at the Dr André Guay orthodontic clinic located in Hull.
Oral treatment
A combination of metal and transparent cases for effective and more discreet treatment
Oral orthodontic treatments are the best known; the brackets are placed at the front of the teeth.
At the Dr. André Guay orthodontic clinic in Hull, we use a combination of "Speed" metal brackets (the smallest in the industry) as well as transparent brackets. The transparent brackets offer aesthetics and comfort on the 6 upper front teeth commonly called smile teeth, all at no additional cost. Your treatment will therefore be more discreet.
Of course, some patients like to give a style to their orthodontic treatment, so wearing colored ligatures is possible at our Dr. André Guay orthodontic clinic in Hull.
Invisalign Traitement
Removable clear aligners with maximum comfort!
Invisalign treatment is an ideal treatment for someone considering braces. It consists of a series of small, removable, transparent aligners that are changed periodically. Your teeth will gradually move comfortably. Each aligner is custom-made according to a treatment plan designed by Dr. Guay. Invisalign treatments have improved greatly in recent years, and the correction possibilities are very effective. With Invisalign, there are no dietary restrictions.
Invisalign treatment is almost invisible and very easy to maintain. It is very important for this treatment to consult an orthodontist rather than a dentist. Although this type of treatment seems simple, planning dental movements is complex and requires advanced orthodontic knowledge to obtain the results you deserve.
Many adults opt for Invisalign treatment, but it is also an interesting option for teenagers. Dr. André Guay will prepare a treatment plan tailored to your needs, and all possibilities will be discussed. He has also completed higher-level training, such as a Master's and a Fellowship degree with Invisalign. Dr. André Guay will be able to advise you if Invisalign is the orthodontic treatment of choice for you.

Interception treatments
Ideal at a young age to intercept the development of the jaws
Interceptor treatments are ideal for children to undertake a first orthodontic phase.
Wearing a fixed or removable appliance (there are a multitude of interceptive treatments), it allows, among other things, to influence the development of the jaws.
For example, a palatal expansion may be necessary at a young age. Palatal expansion is a procedure that is performed using an appliance to correct the inadequate width of the palate and is often appropriate for children and young adolescents.
Another type of interceptive treatment is the use of a myofunctional appliance. This is a removable appliance that is used to advance the lower jaw, for example, when it is too far back and the distance between the upper and lower incisors is very pronounced.
Is your child between 8 and 12 years old and has a discrepancy between the upper and lower jaws? A new revolutionary removable appliance that corrects the alignment of the jaws and stimulates the growth of the lower jaw is now available from us. Its main advantages: patient cooperation of more than 90%, discreet, space-saving, allows good speech, easy cleaning, and brushing. Subsequently, if treatment is necessary, it will be easier because a large part of the work will have been done with this comfortable and easy-to-wear device. Given that a majority of our treatments are done with young patients, we are on the lookout for new technologies that can improve the effectiveness and comfort of treatments.
Once the jaw is repositioned, it is possible to undertake a second phase of treatment, if necessary, which is the wearing of brackets (braces). Are you interested in interception treatment? Make an appointment at our Dr. André Guay orthodontic clinic in Hull, Outaouais.
Retention phase
Essential to ensure long-term stability
When an orthodontic treatment is completed, it is essential to move on to the retention phase.
The goal of the retention phase is to promote long-term stability following orthodontic treatment. In some cases, our orthodontic clinic in Hull will provide a removable retainer that will be worn for a period determined by the orthodontist, gradually reducing the duration of wear.
In most cases, a small wire is glued to the back of the teeth. Completely invisible, impossible to lose or forget to wear it.

During treatment
You will always be informed
Our desire to inform you during your treatment

With us, you will always be informed during the treatment of all the instructions, follow-ups, and progress of the treatment. The treatment plan will be explained to you in detail by Dr. Guay.
Appointments during the treatment will take place approximately every 6 to 8 weeks, depending on the type of treatment and the stage of your treatment. The patient's collaboration is important during the treatment. In fact, its success requires your collaboration by maintaining healthy oral hygiene, following dietary instructions, and learning new hygiene practices.
The more the instructions are followed, the better the results will be within the expected time frame
Payment methods
Ease and flexibility
We will offer you a flexible payment plan with no fees or interest.
For each orthodontic treatment, we offer the possibility of spreading monthly payments without fees or interest. To do this, a specimen check will be required.
All the details on the cost of the treatment, the spreading of payments, eligibility for insurance, and taxes will be explained to you during the first consultation.
For each payment, a receipt is issued that you can use as a tax deduction (orthodontics is eligible as a tax credit for medical care) or to make your insurance claim. We recommend that all our patients check with their employer if they have insurance coverage. For example, companies such as Great-West, Sunlife, Cowen, etc. offer insurance coverage for orthodontic treatment.
The estimated number of months for treatment does not correspond to the number of monthly payments required. For example, if the treatment turns out to be longer than the initially planned duration, we will not require additional fees to continue the treatment to achieve the expected results.
We will be happy to discuss payment terms with you. Book a consultation appointment with us at 819-777-3111 to learn more!

Technologies
On the lookout for new techniques and technologies
We offer you the latest technological advances so that you can benefit from optimal quality orthodontic care in Outaouais.
At Clareo Orthodontics Hull, Dr. Guay uses advanced techniques to make the necessary corrections while taking into account factors unique to each patient: Forsus, anchoring micro-implants, universal thruster, Carrière appliance, Invisalign, treatment plans where new bone formation is necessary, orthognathic surgery, all to achieve the desired objectives.
As for the equipment used to perform patient diagnosis, we use the latest technologies such as panoramic and cephalometric digital radiology. It ensures less exposure to radiation than conventional X-rays.
The clinic also has the latest technology in digital impressions: the Itero scanner. No more impressions with a paste that can cause nausea. Impression taking, therefore, becomes more comfortable, cleaner, and more precise.
Of course, in order to ensure maximum quality, we have all the modern sterilization devices that are regularly tested by the Faculty of Dentistry of the University of Montreal.

Urgent Care
Emergencies or problems requiring immediate intervention are rare in orthodontics.
We can often temporarily resolve a problem over the phone, but if necessary, we will offer you an “emergency” appointment. Here are some of the most common problems:
*** If you are experiencing pain while the clinic is closed and cannot wait for us to reopen, we recommend that you see your dentist or any other dentist who does emergency appointments. If a dentist is unable to see you, you can always contact the Ottawa Dental Society at 613-523-4185. Please note that fees will not be reimbursed.
Hygiene during treatment
We must give it importance
With good hygiene, the braces will have no harmful impact on your teeth.
Braces themselves do not cause cavities, decalcification, or gum disease, but can contribute to them if certain precautions are not taken during orthodontic treatment. It is very important to continue your regular visits to your dentist throughout your orthodontic treatment.
Wearing most orthodontic appliances or “braces” will not prevent your dentist from performing examinations and cleanings.
Food
Instructions to follow
Some foods can cause appliances to break.
This is certainly one of the main causes of prolonged orthodontic treatment.
This is why we ask you to be very careful about the foods you eat. To prevent these accidents, we ask you to follow these recommendations:
Avoid:
Chewing gum, hard and sticky caramel, jelly beans, hard candies and licorice, nuts (almonds, cashews, peanuts), hard chocolate containing nuts, popcorn, pizza crust, and crusty bread.
Cut into pieces:
Fruits (apples, pears, peaches), vegetables (carrots, celery, corn on the cob, etc.)
Foods that discolor elastic ligatures (porcelain brackets):
Spices such as curry, mustard, chicken noodle soup, colored beverages, red wine, coffee, tea, herbal teas, and cigarettes
Never:
Chew on a pencil or pen; bite your nails
