Dental Center
Our clinic is located in Thetford Mines on Boulevard Frontenac, a major thoroughfare.
We renovated our building in 2014 to offer enhanced amenities and meet the growing needs of our patients. Our goal was to create a warm, calm, and relaxed atmosphere.
We have also harnessed technology for your benefit. For instance, all our treatment rooms are computerized and equipped with intraoral cameras, allowing you to see exactly what we see and better understand the necessary treatments. Additionally, we use digital radiography, which provides instant images while reducing radiation exposure by 70% to 80%.
Our professionals offer a personalized approach tailored to your specific needs.
We are located at 31 Boulevard Frontenac East.
The entire team at Centre Dentaire Mireille Lessard looks forward to meeting you!
In accordance with Law 25, Hélène Létourneau (Secretary) has been designated as the person responsible for the protection of personal information at the clinic.
Services offered at the clinic
Orthodontic care to suit every preference!
Like every field, dentistry is not immune to technological advances. These allow us to both improve our practice and offer a wider variety of treatments to meet the highest standards of our clientele. New orthodontic techniques have emerged, offering treatment options that are more aesthetic, faster, and more comfortable.
We begin with a comprehensive assessment of your teeth. Following a thorough analysis, we will present the various treatment options available to you. A personalized approach is essential. We treat children as well as adults of all ages:
Children: For young patients, the goal is to address the problem at its source.
Jaw issues are often the culprit: a palate that is too narrow, a receding chin, or other abnormalities in the bones supporting the teeth can prevent them from positioning correctly as they erupt. It is therefore important to begin treatment before your child has all their adult teeth.
Since children's bones are more malleable, their growth can be influenced by wearing orthopedic appliances. For example, a narrow palate can be widened using these appliances, creating the necessary space for incoming teeth. In many simple cases, wearing these appliances during the growth phase can eliminate the need for braces during adolescence.
In more complex cases, wearing these appliances serves as the first phase of a comprehensive treatment plan. They shape the bone structure correctly, after which braces are used to align the teeth aesthetically.
Correction at a young age avoids the need for jaw surgery in adulthood. Unfortunately, in adults, the bone has hardened, and surgery is the only way to alter its shape. Teeth and jaws that do not fit together properly make chewing less efficient, which can lead to excessive tooth wear as well as jaw and head pain. Unattractive teeth can also lower self-esteem.
Some causes of jaw development and alignment issues include:
- Heredity
- Thumb-sucking during childhood
- Accidents or trauma
- Premature loss of a baby tooth
- Constant tongue pressure against the teeth
- Mouth breathing
It is never too early to check if your child needs orthodontic correction. We recommend an evaluation around age 7. Early detection makes it easier to correct issues and helps prevent more serious growth-related problems.
Adults: Times have changed; there are now several ways for adults to correct their tooth alignment in an aesthetic and convenient manner. Systems have evolved, and short-term treatment options are now available. Here are a few examples:
Invisalign clear aligners
Dr. Lessard loves orthodontics! In fact, our team is proud to be the only one in the region to have held Invisalign GOLD status for several years. These aligners are removable, translucent trays custom-made from digital scans of your teeth. The treatment plan is mapped out virtually using specialized software. The aligners are worn day and night and changed periodically. Each tray gently moves the teeth—millimeter by millimeter—until the desired position is achieved. Because the aligners are clear, they are very discreet. This solution is therefore ideal for patients who want to maintain a great appearance during their orthodontic treatment! Furthermore, the fact that the aligners are removable makes hygiene much easier and causes no discomfort during meals. In fact, Invisalign is highly appreciated for its simplicity!
Clear Brackets with the DAMON System
In recent years, it has become possible to use clear—yet fast-acting—brackets for the front teeth. These are the type we use at the Centre Dentaire Mireille Lessard. They are highly aesthetic and can be used with high-tech "smart" wires to move teeth faster than conventional fixed braces, all while offering maximum comfort. It is an ideal option for individuals who want to maintain their appearance throughout the treatment process.
Moreover, we use the DAMON bracket system, which allows us to treat the majority of cases without extractions! Since this technology requires fewer adjustments at the dental office, patients with active lifestyles are delighted to know that the frequency the number of visits to the dental professional is reduced.
Whether it is for a "slightly crooked tooth" that bothers you or for more extensive treatment, there is always a solution to meet your needs. If you or your child require orthodontic treatment, please ask Dr. Lessard about the various options available. She will be happy to recommend the treatment best suited to your situation!
Teeth Whitening
Procedure: In-office whitening with at-home follow-up:
First, we ensure your teeth and gums are healthy. If they are, we take impressions to create your custom at-home whitening trays. You will receive these trays—along with the whitening gel—on the day of your in-office whitening appointment.
At a second appointment, we assess your tooth shade and perform a deep cleaning to prepare you for the in-office whitening session. The first step involves drying your teeth and using a blue light to activate the process. Next, the whitening gel is applied to the front surfaces of the teeth being treated. The length of time the product remains on the teeth varies depending on each patient's specific needs.
Once the in-office treatment is complete, we will provide you with your at-home whitening trays and explain the procedure in detail. Should you have any questions or concerns during the treatment process, please do not hesitate to call Mireille Lessard Dental Centre at 418-335-5440.
At-Home Whitening
At-Home Whitening Procedure
After examining your mouth and confirming that you are free of cavities or other infections, we take impressions to create your custom whitening trays.
About a week after this initial appointment, we provide you with your trays and the whitening gel. We will explain the procedure to you at that time, as the process varies depending on your initial tooth shade and medical history (e.g., tooth sensitivity). For best results, we strongly recommend avoiding any food or drink that could stain your teeth (berries, wine, tea, coffee, etc.) throughout the at-home whitening period. Ideally, you should also stop smoking during this time.
If you have any questions during the at-home whitening process, please call the Mireille Lessard Dental Centre at 418-335-5440.
Damon Brackets
Smaller than standard metal brackets, DAMON brackets offer unparalleled comfort. Each bracket features a sliding door housing a "smart" orthodontic wire, which ensures faster tooth movement while exerting less pressure. Because they are more efficient than conventional brackets, young patients can often avoid tooth extractions and the need for palatal expanders.
At the Mireille Lessard Dental Centre, we understand how important it is for you to maintain your appearance during treatment. That is why we offer translucent brackets for the upper arch at no extra cost. You will also be pleased to learn that DAMON orthodontic treatment requires fewer visits to the dental office. Furthermore, these brackets are far less prone to trapping tartar than traditional ones, which also affects the frequency of professional cleanings.
Impacted Canine
A canine is considered impacted when it fails to erupt (remaining beneath the bone and usually in a poor position). In such cases, specialized orthodontic treatment is required to guide the canine into its proper position. After wisdom teeth, upper canines are the teeth most frequently affected by this issue.
First, it is important to understand the specific role of canines. They act as guides for the lower jaw during movement, preventing the other teeth from clashing against one another. When canines are impacted or misaligned, the rest of the dentition can suffer, potentially leading to tooth erosion or TMJ dysfunction. That is why it is crucial to address the situation as soon as possible!
If you are concerned about your child's permanent teeth, call the Mireille Lessard Dental Centre at 418 335-5440 without delay. We will begin with an assessment and recommend the treatment plan best suited to the specific issue.

Invisalign
At our clinic, Invisalign is an essential orthodontic tool! Achieving a beautiful smile has never been easier—and for the same price as traditional fixed braces. This alternative to fixed brackets will appeal to both adults and teenagers!
So, what exactly are Invisalign aligners?
They consist of a series of clear plastic aligners that gradually shift your smile toward a 3D-planned result. This allows you to see the final outcome before treatment even begins. You wear your Invisalign aligners all day, except when eating or brushing your teeth, so you can enjoy meals and maintain impeccable oral hygiene throughout treatment.
Benefits of Invisalign orthodontic treatment:
- Aesthetics: clear aligners
Removable: brush your teeth and eat normally - Increased comfort: treatment without wires or brackets
- Less pressure on the teeth
- Speed: on average, twice as fast as fixed braces
Invisalign is the most user-friendly orthodontic treatment available, offering superior comfort, aesthetics, and quality of life during treatment. The next step is determining whether Invisalign is right for your specific case! Over 90% of patients are candidates for this treatment.
If you are interested in this orthodontic solution, please contact the Centre dentaire Mireille Lessard at 418 335-5440.
Dental Crown
A dental crown is a type of restoration used to strengthen a tooth that has undergone a root canal or has a large filling. It enhances the tooth's appearance and restores its original strength.
Dental Crown: From Preparation to Cementation
First appointment: We shape the tooth and take an impression to fabricate the crown. We place a temporary crown to protect your tooth until the permanent crown is ready.
Second appointment: We replace the temporary crown with the permanent crown. We will verify your bite and ensure the permanent restoration fits perfectly before cementing it in place.
For further information, please contact the Mireille Lessard Dental Centre at 418-335-5440.

Wisdom Teeth
Wisdom teeth, or third molars, are the four rearmost molars located at the back of the mouth. If there is insufficient space, they often fail to erupt properly—a condition commonly known as impaction. If they remain trapped beneath the gums, they can cause issues such as pressure on the roots of adjacent molars, infection, or cysts. For this reason, Centre dentaire Mireille Lessard prefers to extract wisdom teeth that are likely to become problematic.
If you have any concerns, please call us at 418-335-5440 to schedule a consultation. We would be happy to discuss the best option for your specific situation!
Endodontics
Endodontic treatment (root canal therapy) is required when the dental pulp becomes infected. Dental pulp is the soft tissue located beneath the hard outer layer of the tooth; it contains the nerves and blood vessels necessary for tooth growth. Once growth is complete, the pulp is no longer essential to the tooth. Consequently, dentists can remove the pulp and infection without damaging the affected tooth.
Here are some common symptoms of an infected dental pulp:
- Sensitivity to hot and cold
- A persistent strange taste in the mouth
- Swollen gums
- Pain or throbbing
However, patients do not always notice these signs. That is why regular dental check-ups are essential for maintaining your dental health!
Why is it important to undergo root canal treatment promptly if an infection occurs?
- To prevent the infection from spreading
- To relieve pain
- To avoid tooth extraction
Fortunately, painless techniques have been developed in recent years, ensuring maximum comfort throughout the procedure. If you suspect you have this type of infection, do not hesitate to contact Centre dentaire Mireille Lessard for an examination. We will do everything possible to help you regain your beautiful smile as quickly as possible!
Palatal Expansion
When a patient's upper dental arch is too narrow relative to the lower arch, a palatal expansion appliance may be recommended to widen the palate and align it with the lower arch. Early intervention may allow the expansion appliance to fully correct the bite issue or, at the very least, shorten the overall treatment time by several months.
What are the benefits of a palatal expansion appliance?
- To prevent lower jaw (mandibular) deviation
- To reduce the risk of developing temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders
- To maintain the health of your teeth and gums
If you are concerned that your child’s upper jaw may be too small, we recommend scheduling an appointment for an evaluation. Early intervention is the best strategy to prevent a condition from progressing into a series of more serious problems. Drs. Doyon and Lessard would be happy to provide you with any information you need regarding palatal expansion appliances.
Dental Veneer
A veneer is used to cover the front surface of an incisor or canine that is discoloured, chipped, cracked, or misshapen. We also use them to harmonize a smile where a few teeth are slightly misaligned or to close an unsightly gap between teeth. Made of ceramic or porcelain, a veneer is an ultra-thin shell that gives the restored tooth a completely natural appearance.
The veneer placement procedure is very simple, and the entire process is generally completed in a single appointment. For more information, please contact the Centre dentaire Mireille Lessard at 418 335-5440.
Gingivitis vs. Periodontitis
Gingivitis and periodontitis are the two most common gum diseases. Because gingivitis is a minor gum infection, it is usually easy to treat. Inadequate dental hygiene most often causes it. This type of infection rarely causes pain; however, certain signs may indicate its presence. If you notice bleeding while brushing your teeth, or observe swelling or redness in your gums, you may well be dealing with gingivitis. Take these symptoms seriously, as they can progress to periodontitis—a more severe form of the condition.
Periodontitis stems from specific bacteria that infiltrate beneath the gumline and form "pockets," gradually destroying the tissues surrounding the tooth. When detected early, it is generally straightforward to treat. However, treatment becomes more complex in cases involving deep periodontal pockets, loose teeth, and so on. That is why it is crucial to stick to the schedule of periodic check-ups recommended by your dentist.
If you have noticed any of the symptoms described above, we suggest scheduling a consultation with us at 418 335-5440 to ensure everything is in order.
Gum Graft
When your gums begin to recede, a gum graft can address the issue. An exposed root is not only unsightly; it can also become highly sensitive to hot or cold temperatures, causing significant discomfort while eating. Often, patients decide to undergo the grafting procedure only after this discomfort intensifies.
Here are some potential causes of gum recession:
- Naturally thin gums
Age - Brushing too vigorously or using improper technique
- Recurring gingivitis
- Habits such as nail-biting or frequent teeth clenching
- Outdated dental restorations
- Orthodontic treatment that exerted excessive pressure on the teeth
If you are considering a gum graft, please contact Centre dentaire Mireille Lessard at 418-335-5440. We will assess your gum condition and determine whether you are a suitable candidate for this type of surgery.
Dental Implant
Definition: A screw inserted into the jawbone to replace the root of a missing tooth. To prevent complications, the implant is made of a biocompatible material such as titanium. Once the implant integrates with the bone, a crown can be attached.
Why choose dental implants as a tooth replacement solution?
- A long-lasting solution
- A dental restoration that closely mimics a natural tooth in both function and aesthetics
- Preservation of bone structure
- Easier dental hygiene compared to removable dentures
If you would like to know if dental implants are a suitable solution for your situation, please contact the Centre dentaire Mireille Lessard at 418-335-5440 to schedule a consultation. We would be happy to perform a comprehensive examination to determine whether this procedure is appropriate for you.
Space Maintainer
A space maintainer preserves adequate space for adult teeth when a child loses teeth prematurely. Essentially, it is a fixed or removable appliance that holds the teeth adjacent to the lost ones in place, preventing them from shifting into the empty space. A dental professional custom-makes the appliance based on impressions of the patient's mouth. Without treatment, permanent teeth may become misaligned, increasing the likelihood that the child will later require more complex orthodontic treatment.
If your child has lost one or more teeth at an early age and you are concerned about potential complications, consult Drs. Doyon and Lessard to determine the best treatment option.
Digital Radiology
The Mireille Lessard Dental Centre uses digital radiology rather than conventional X-rays. This technique is ideal for oral examinations because it produces lower X-ray emissions. Digital radiology also offers superior image detail, leading to more accurate diagnoses.
Furthermore, because images are stored in the clinic’s computer system, we can access your X-rays at any time with much greater ease. As a result, we can transmit your records instantly and electronically to insurance companies or other dental professionals.
Another significant advantage is that digital radiology eliminates the need for film, which is a notable source of pollution.
In short, our dental clinic is proud to have adopted a technology that is eco-friendly, efficient, and highly safe.
Dental Rehabilitation
Dental rehabilitation aims to improve your overall oral health by addressing both function and aesthetics. To do so, we conduct a comprehensive examination (e.g., X-rays, impressions, etc.) to identify the specific issues that need correction. Whether you are experiencing jaw joint pain, speech or chewing difficulties, or have misaligned or worn-down teeth, the Centre dentaire Mireille Lessard can help!
After an assessment and consultation, we outline all viable treatment options, taking into account your goals and budget. Once you begin your chosen treatment plan, we will monitor your progress closely to help you achieve the desired results as quickly as possible.
To schedule a comprehensive oral health assessment, please call us at 418 335-5440.
Snoring
Nearly half of the general population snores occasionally, while a quarter struggles with chronic snoring (occurring almost every night). Although snoring poses no danger—unless it's associated with sleep apnea—it is still very bothersome.
Here are some symptoms that may be associated with chronic snoring:
- Daytime drowsiness and an irresistible urge to sleep
- Unusual fatigue upon waking
- Headaches or sore throat upon waking
- Loss of concentration and alertness
- Memory lapses
- High blood pressure
- A partner disturbed by the snoring noise
If you would like more information about snoring appliances, please speak with Dr. Doyon or Dr. Lessard at your next clinic visit. They can recommend the appropriate treatment based on the severity of your condition.
Dental Sealants
Does your child or teenager tend to develop cavities on their molars or premolars? Dental sealants are a preventive measure well worth considering. Sealants smooth the occlusal (chewing) surfaces of molars and premolars, protecting them against decay. Essentially, the sealant is a coating that hardens upon contact with air, acting as a barrier against bacteria entering the teeth's tiny grooves and fissures. Once these crevices are sealed, food particles can no longer penetrate the tooth surface, thereby preventing cavities from forming.
Even with impeccable oral hygiene, cavities in molars and premolars are virtually inevitable for patients with deep grooves. Because toothbrush bristles are generally wider than these microscopic fissures, it is often impossible to completely dislodge all food debris. That is why Centre dentaire Mireille Lessard recommends dental sealants to its patients.
